The question is, what do you pay for your workday lunch? I tend to get a little pricey as usually it’s my biggest meal of the day. Today I got a nice salad with carrots and cucumbers and broccoli and chick peas and stuff because I’m a wholesome, organic, and kind person. But then I also got a cheese burger because I’m a pig. Total? 8$. Granted this is at the high end of what I’d pay but still quite a bit for a lunch.

Shittt, I pay between 8-12 bucks everyday. Its to far of a drive for me to go home at lunch and I don’t want to eat at the office so I always have to go out.

Probably less than $3. My house is 3 miles away so I usually go home and chill out for a bit.

I think Pho comes out to about $11 and a sub is around $8.
I only go out once a week. Otherwise I bring leftovers.

That would be nice. I have a 45 minute drive :( Sometimes I bring lunch, but I often don’t take the time the night before to make it.

I think on average I pay about $1 at most for lunch. Probably less than that really. But that is because I cook all of my own lunches and I eat the same exact types of meals for dinner and lunch so it is generally intentional leftovers from other dinners during the week. I almost always cook for like ten people at a time (even though it is just for myself) so there is plenty of things to choose from in large quantities when I put together lunch. Going out for lunch every once in a while is like the same cost of two weeks of meals which is always nuts to me to think about.

Good idea. I have a child though and we don’t eat the same as it is, so I usually have to make two meals a night. However, I did used to make an extra big portion for myself and bring some the next day.

I make lunch for work every day. There’s no point in spending that kind of money for work lunch.
Friday night, I made chicken-fried steak, mashed taters, and green beans. Total cost for everything was like $20ish. Consider that I fed 3 people that night, sent two servings of leftovers with our guest, and then ate it yesterday and today for lunch - then add a granola bar (1.89 for six) and a soda ($1) I’m around $4. It’s usually less than that, though.

$10 +/- $2
I eat out every day because I’m lazy. My monthly food cost, which includes liquor and going out to bars, because that’s how mint keeps track of it, is $800. I am a heathen. But I love my life ;)

I usually just grab a cliff bar from the kitchen at work as “lunch”. We often have catered lunches too, so most of the time lunch is free. However, if a couple of us go out to get lunch. I would guess that $12 is average.

I think my excessive use of the slow cooker definitely helps too. Kinda hard to make single servings in a crock pot lol. So it naturally works out that I have a ton of extra food to eat for lunches. Dang children being complicated. I recall being forced to eat whatever everybody else was eating or else I can fend for myself. But I am pretty sure that is considered child abuse now probably haha.

I pack a lunch for the specific reason that Lower Manhattan is ~$10-15 depending on what you get unless you’re eating from a truck (which are hard to find in my local blocks)
When i was working in SoHo, I was upstairs from where Tribeca Taco Truck parked. $5 burrito, $1 can of Coke, full until 7 PM.

I try to bring lunch but if I go out, somewhere between 8 and 10 is the norm. I know a good cuban place, little mom and pop joint, that is closer to 15 but it is totally worth it.

20 damn cents, because I like Motorcycle parts way more than I like food.
That said, there’s usually a lunch meeting or something that will let me eat better than ramen for free. When I do go out for lunch I usually spend like $14 on Sushi

I bring my lunch about 50% of the time, but when I go out, $5-10 depending on if I hit up a supermarket salad bar or actually get lunch at a sit down place.

$0.00. I’m an accountant for a restaurant company and our offices are in the basement of one of the restaurants, so I get free French food for lunch. Maybe this is why I'm overweight lol

I brown bag whenever I can. I buy Trader Joe’s prepacked salads which is usually $3.99 at the most. Most satisfying meals around here at the deli’s and fast food places will be at least $8.00 or more.

I usually bring a lunch, so I don’t really know, but if I’m out of town in our corporate office and getting reimbursed for meals, I’m generally between $8-$15 in the Seattle Renton area depending on what I get. Cheaper end for Hawaiian, higher end for Sushi. I generally eat Sushi.

Probably $9. I hate cooking and I need to leave the shop most days for a break. Seems like a lot but it’s worth it. Fast food chain stuff is rare, it’s almost all food carts and local restaurants all with fantastic food.

$7-$12 avg for a normal workday...and there is not a comment in the world that could convince me to do leftovers/home-sandwiches everyday.

If I eat leftovers, I count a free because I already paid for it once.
If I eat in the cafeteria at work, usually about $5
If I go out, anywhere from $9 to $20, usuallt about $14 with tip. I work downtown and there isn’t much cheap. It’s hard to eat out for less than $10.

Yup, I go back and forth on bringing food or buying. I brought for a long time but realized financially it wasn’t even worth it for me to grocery shop lunch foods as it wasn’t being eaten in time. Leftover are okay but I no longer buy deli meats and that kind of thing.

Try mint. Then you’ll know exactly. It’s really fun to see where it actually all goes. Plus since you’re looking at it you’ll catch incorrect charges.

$4 to $20. Huge range, but’s it’s true. On average it’s probably 8-10 but it really does vary a lot.
